For my individual research, I decided to chose the issue of palm oil which will be the subject for my next painting.

 

This highly sought commodity is used in many products such as food and beauty and has become one of the biggest exports in Indonesia. However because of the high demand, the biodiversity in Indonesia has suffered due to deforestation. Already vulnerable animals such as the Orangutan, Sumatran Elephant, and Sumatran Tiger have become critically endangered. This is a huge issue that could be resolved by informing the public and introducing a new alternative oil to keep up with the global demand.
